About the Cottage

This intimate, charming yet luxuriously appointed home boasts a famous, and exquisitely designed Chef's pegboard kitchen, built and designed by Paul & Julia Child. Yes, the very similar design that can be found in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. A property that catalyzed the food movement in 1970s Provence. built on the homestead of Simone Beck, the coauthor collaborator for Mastering the Art of French Cooking Vol. I and II.  Exquisite in its maintenance, La Pitchoune or La Peetch sits on well-tended acres of gardens with a marvelous potager nestled just outside the community of Grasse. Easy access to beaches, perfume factories, grocery stores, and more. It’s a part of a secluded estate of a few homes, just off a main road.

Each stay includes access to an outdoor gym; a private, mosaic pool; a year-round vegetable and herb garden; chickens and their fresh eggs; a full-kitted our kitchen with single-origin spices, Mauviel copper, well-sharpened knives, Staub dutch ovens (nearly a dozen of them), pastry making supplies, and more.

Julia Child & La Pitchoune

La Pitchoune was built by Julia and Paul Child in the 1960's and has hosted hundreds of famous food influencers over the years. In the 1990's Kathie Alex turned it into a cooking school, Cooking with Friends in France, and is now the flagship location of The Courageous Cooking School.

We can’t wait to welcome you!

Psssssst…..The La Peetch team is a rotating one, we gotta take a vacation sometime! We cannot promise who’ll you’ll meet from the TV Show, or if you’ll meet us at all! But! We can in fact promise you’ll have an amazing time, and all our staff are incredible humans.

And The Extended Family….

5.png

Pilou

A pug-huahua/chug. Snorts like a pig, smells like laundry. Walks 1km to visit.

6.png

Lulu

Resident Feline. Professional Lounger.
Wisteria sniffer. Yoga cat.

7.png

India

Will beg for food, belly rubs, and snuggles. Likes trash. Unapologetically needy.

None of the above pets are ours per se (Lulu is in essence ours, she just showed up). They all swing by when they feel like it - the joys of rural French living! They are lovely, kind, and won’t bother you. But we feel it best to explain they will be around.
